Why use a sunbed?

Sunbeds offer a controlled environment in which to tan. The Bronze Tanning Centre formulates a tanning program based on your unique skin analysis. This then enables you to achieve a golden tan without any over exposure or burning.

Tanning in sunlight can subject the body to different levels of ultra violet rays depending on the time of day and the location. This can result in damage to the skin and sun burn. 

The Bronze Tanning Centre is a fully approved member of the Sunbed Association. Approval means that the business follows a code of conduct in order to promote good practice and ensure safer tanning.

Can I use a Sunbed?

Most people are able to use a sunbed however if you answer 'yes' to any of the following questions you should not use a sunbed. 

• Are you under 16?
• Do you have a medical condition that becomes worse in sunlight?
• Do you have an excessive number of moles and/or freckles?
• Do you have a history of sun burn especially when you were a child?
• Have you or an immediate member of your family had skin cancer?
• Are you pregnant?

If you are taking any medication please check with your GP or pharmacist prior to using a sunbed. 

How often can I use a sunbed?

It is recommended that you have a maximum of 3 sunbeds per week to build a tan. Leave at least 24 hours between sessions. You can then have weekly sunbeds to maintain your tan. The Bronze Tanning Centre will allow you to have a maximum of 60 sunbeds in any one year.

Is it true that sun beds are linked to an increased risk in skin cancer?

Excessive exsposure (burning) to uv rays from either the sun or sun beds has been been linked to skin cancer. However research shows that moderate exsposure does not increase the risk of skin cancer.

 Tanning at an approved Sunbed Association salon will ensure that you only have moderate exsposure.
